▶ ‘G.O.A.T’: Messi secures the 11th Ligue 1 title for PSG while breaking Ronaldo’s European goal record

A new benchmark has been set in football’s history and the legendary rivalry between Lionel Messi and Cristiano.
While Paris Saint-Germain managed to secure their 11th Ligue 1 title, Messi, too, scored his 496th goal in the top five leagues in Europe, thus, overtaking the 495th record of Ronaldo, reports CNN.
 In the 59th minute, Messi took on Kylian Mbappé’s cross and scored a lovely goal to give PSG a 1-0 against Strasbourg.
Although the match ended in a draw, after Kevin Gameiro scored another goal for Strasbourg, PSG still managed to win the league.
But it was an exciting day for the team because they surpassed Saint-Etienne’s record of 10 Ligue 1 trophies.
Moreover, this is also the first time in the European league’s records that PSG maintained its top position from the beginning to the end of the match, last seen during the third round of the 2021/22 season and 73 consecutive matches.
However, this win does not overlook the problematic relationship between the club and Messi, who was suspended at the beginning of the month after an unapproved trip to Saudi Arabia, which led him to miss his training.
